Jen attentively listened without judgement and soon identified the pain-points with an impressive toolkit of skills like panning for gold. She helped me understand I was in a panic zone, overwhelmed and overwrought. Once established, we put strategies in place to lower some frankly ridiculous expectations I had placed on myself, recognise and own my strengths and essentially reconnect with myself.
This self-discovery became something to embrace and the sessions moved to developing more of a growth mindset and building resilience. In tandem, a keen eye was kept on physical health and emotional well-being and Jen frequently checks in with how experiences make you feel and how to use those sensations to your advantage. Of course, it is not always straightforward or comfortable to have such candid conversations, but Jen offers such reassurance and discretion that any trepidation is soon overcome.
So, what of it? I am now thriving at work, training for professional accreditations across a number of disciplines, recognised for my expertise and have recaptured my confidence and some. The greater the challenge, the greater the effort and I now have a toolkit of my own to lean on when the going gets tough.
